Working Principle
The bellows type thermostatic steam trap takes a metal bellows as its main actuating element, which is filled with liquid whose vaporization temperature is lower than the saturation temperature of water.
At the initial startup of the system, low‑temperature condensate appears in the pipeline. The liquid inside the bellows remains in condensed state, and the valve stays open.
As the temperature of condensate gradually rises, the filling liquid inside the bellows starts to evaporate, raising the internal pressure. The diaphragm drives the valve core towards the closing direction, and the steam trap closes completely before the condensate reaches saturation temperature.
The bellows controls valve opening‑and‑closing according to steam temperature variation, so as to block steam and discharge condensate.
Product Features
- Excellent air venting capacity, resistant to superheated steam and water hammer.
- It has a fixed subcooling cycle operation within the pressure range.
- Capable of combination of multiple bellows, suitable for large discharge.
- The temperature sensing element is highly corrosion‑resistant, ensuring a long service life.
- Available in carbon steel and stainless steel body; compact and lightweight. Ideal for vertical installation, but can also be installed at any angle.
Advantages
Bellows type thermostatic steam trap is an advanced energy‑saving steam trap widely adopted internationally.
It features highly sensitive response. High‑temperature condensate is retained upstream of the valve during operation with zero steam leakage, bringing remarkable energy‑saving effect.
For modern steam piping systems, it is an ideal substitute for thermodynamic disc steam traps (PN25 and below) and bimetallic steam traps (PN16 and below).
